Jessica K. ThomasJessica concentrates her practice in handling complex litigation matters at both the trial and appellate levels in federal and state courts, as well as in arbitration and mediation proceedings.  Her practice includes matters involving breach of contract, labor and employment, intellectual property, probate and estate, professional liability, consumer fraud, unfair competition, products liability, regulatory compliance, and insurance coverage.  Jessica also advises and represents individuals in animal law matters, with a focus on equine law.

Recent Representative Matters

  • Obtaining a successful multi-million dollar arbitration award on behalf of a fiber optic company against a railroad company for various claims arising out of the construction of a nationwide fiber optic network.
  • Successfully defending both temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction trials on behalf of an automobile manufacturer by a dealer claiming breach of contract, trademark violations, and illegal business practices.
  • Representing a Fortune 50 Company in the pharmaceutical services industry in securing a dismissal via summary judgment of false advertising claims under the Lanham Act.
  • Trial counsel for an automobile manufacturer in an arbitration trial and successfully defending the company’s nationwide vehicle allocation system.
  • Securing dismissal via summary judgment of an attempt to pierce the corporate veil through an alter ego claim by a supplier against an investment company.
  • Defending a pharmaceutical company against claims of sexual harassment and retaliation, discrimination under Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Illinois Human Rights Act and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
  • Representing a large financial institution in a lawsuit against a national real estate consulting firm alleging fraud and breach of contract in relation to the sale of one of its largest office buildings and obtaining a positive resolution.
  • Managing the defense of a former Chicago police officer in numerous section 1983 actions alleging various violations of civil rights including wrongful search and seizure.
